Guarantees are important for customers in any line of business. In an industry like ours where services rather than products are being traded, and in which large amounts of critical and sensitive data are entrusted to the service provider, guarantees are even more importantand harder to come by.
One way of providing reassurance is to comply with certain industry standards, such as the universally recognized ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards. MPS submitted to three separate audits over the course of 2010 in order to reassure our clients that our processes and workflows conform to the highest international standards.
PCI DSS
In April, MPS' fulfillment services secured certification for online credit card payment. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a worldwide information security standard defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. These standards help prevent credit card fraud through increased controls around data and its exposure to compromise.
MPS has been certified for PCI Data Security Standard Version 1.2, which covers access controls such as the deletion or encryption of credit card information after processing and secure login access to systems.
ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 27001:2005
MPS' journal production processes were certified for ISO 9001:2008 in early November. ISO 9001:2008 covers an organization's quality management systems.
Later that month, MPS was also certified for ISO/IEC 27001:2005. This standard deals with an organization's information security management systems. Certification was awarded for all of MPS' India-based production units.
MPS' tireless certifications teams are now planning to start work on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compliance, which helps organizations implement a lifecycle framework for IT service management.
