Bangalore - MPS Limited has been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certifications of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Both audits were carried out by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), one of the world's leading classification societies.
ISO 9001:2008 covers an organization's quality management systems. The certification was awarded by the Dutch board for Accreditation Services (RvA) after DNV audited MPS' journal production processes.
ISO/IEC 27001:2005 deals with an organization's information security management systems. The certification in this case was awarded by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) following DNV's audit of all of the company's India-based production units.
The audits, which were conducted in October across the company's units in Bangalore, Chennai, and Delhi, covered the following areas:
- Process and policy definition
- Procedure and policy implementation
- Document review
- Training and awareness
Rajiv Seth, MD and CEO of MPS, commented: "These certifications underline our long-term commitment to excellence in quality and information security and justify the trust our clients place in us. MPS continuously works to enhance its processes in order to offer publishers the best service possible."
Both certificates are valid for three years and are subject to a surveillance audit every 12 months.
MPS now plans to start work on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compliance, which helps organizations implement a lifecycle framework for IT service management.
